N.C.’s wind power touted

A report says North Carolina should develop its wind power industry:

“North Carolina’s extensive coastline and large offshore wind resources appear to make it a prime area for offshore-wind development,” the panel said.

Why do we want to switch to an energy source thats not consistent. Imagine the cost of storage for the generated electricity. The wind has never blown at a constant speed. Why not let well enough alone. Personally, I feel its another way for someone to get richer. Why would we want a more expensive source than what we’ve got.

If they can generate affordable wind power without special gov’t priveleges (i.e. handouts, tax breaks) then have at it.
But while they are at it, also allow for entrepreneurs to tap into the oil and natural gas off the coast as well.

This would destroy our North Carolina coast, all for another pet project of Obama’s. I live here and we have many hurricanes every year. Who do you think will share the cost of repairs to these turbines. This is a horrible idea.
