Board of Education Early Voting in Wake County

In 2009, a total of 55,121 people voted in the Raleigh, Cary and Board of Education election – 2,352 of the votes were cast early, either at a one-stop site or by mail. 

According to the most recent Wake County Board of Elections data, the number of early voters has tripled in this year’s Raleigh, Cary andBoard of Education election.  Early voting ended Saturday and according to Wake County’s records, 7,247 people have cast ballots so far.

Municipal and Board of Education elections in Wake County are considered non-partisan, but voters are registered by party affiliation so that’s how we will look at voter turnout.

General turnout by party looks like this:

3,804     Democrats

1,894     Republicans

1,541     Unaffiliated

8              Libertarians

Here is a breakdown by Board of Education district:

Note:     Board of Education district elections are staggered - this year districts 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 are up for election.
                 The first block of votes in the chart do not have jurisdictions associated with them - My guess is that these people either registered to vote right before the deadline and were not in the system when I downloaded the voter file on September 24 (the deadline to register was September 22) or they registered to vote using Same Day Registration.
