DPI: Recession? What recession?

At a time when we hear almost daily news reports about the pending layoffs of thousands of teachers, the Department of Public Instruction is hiring a new lobbyist, Ann McColl (see article:here).  McColl assumes her new duties on January 3rd.  Her salary:  $101, 867. 

I guess all that talk about belt-tightening applied only to the schools.
